Handsfree Headsets For Both Landlines And Smartphones

Continuing with our series on CyberSecurity awareness,  Ross Greiner from Webroot is here with a tip to keep you safe from cyber criminals, with this week’s “stay safe” tip: October is National Cyber security awareness month, and a good time to prepare for ransomware.  Ransomware is the most profitable type of malware in history, and allows cyber criminals to encrypt your entire hard drive, then demand a ransom to unlock your data. Prepare for ransomware by never opening attachments, or clicking on embedded links if you cannot verify the source.  Unsolicited attachments and links are frequently used to distribute ransomware, and easy to avoid. For more tips on being safe online Visit Webroot.com/radio   Dennis in Tupelo, Mississippi listens on SuperTalk 95.9 FM asked: I have an office at home and work a lot. I use my cell phone and a landline. I'm looking for a headset that will work with both. Could you tell me what I can use, if there is such a thing?   Dennis, it depends on your phones, actually. Some cordless phones have a regular headset connector like the kind that might work with a cellphone or a laptop, some have bluetooth. Those are your two options, really. Your cellphone will pretty much want one of those two, so you’ll need to figure out if your landline phone either takes one of those already, or find a replacement that will. You could also forward your landline to your cellphone and use the headphones that probably came with it, if that works for you. That solution would not require buying any new gear, but it may or may not be free depending on your current plans.
